Today the Border Trade Alliance attended a Town Hall Meeting hosted by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, where she discussed the Security Through Regularized Immigration and a Vibrant Economy Act of 2007 (STRIVE Act).
This legislation, H.R. 1645, was introduced in the House of Representatives on March 22 by Representative Luis Gutierrez of Illinois. Congresswoman Giffords, who also co-sponsored the legislation, gave an overview of the seven areas covered by the legislation: Border Enforcement, Interior Enforcement, Employer Verification, New Worker Program, Visa Reform, Legalization of Undocumented individuals, Dream Act of 2007, and the AgJobs Act of 2007.
Politically, it remains to be seen if the legislation will pass this year in Washington, but it is refreshing to see that the members of Congress are trying to address such a controversial issue.
