How do I bring a policy/advocacy issue to the attention of the BTA?
When an issue is brought to the attention of the Policy Team, we will forward the issue to the BTA committee with jurisdiction over that issue. The merits of the various positions will be debated in Committee and after arriving at a position, the committee will forward its recommended action to the Board of Directors for a vote on whether to support the referring committees recommendations.
There are several ways that you can bring a policy issue to the attention of the BTA. These include via email to the policy team; via email to the Chair of a committee that oversees that issue; via mail to the attention of the Policy Department in our Main office; or during a Border Forum or Conference.

If I want to participate in a Washington, D.C. advocacy trip, what do I need to do? Do you have a schedule?
We do our best to schedule the advocacy trips as far in advance as possible. When you receive notice of an upcoming visit, simply let the Policy Team know of your interest in participating in the time leading up to the visit. The Policy Team will keep you posted via e-mail or scheduled appointments. It is important to note that on most occasions, arranging for lodging accommodations will be your responsibility. Please note that referential participation is also given to Presidential and Executive level Sponsors.
