Letter from Chair

Founded in 1986, the Border Trade Alliance (BTA) is a grassroots, non-profit organization that serves as a forum for participants to address key issues affecting trade and economic development in North America. Working with entities in Canada, Mexico and the United States, the BTA advocates on behalf of policies and initiatives designed to improve border affairs and trade relations among the three nations.

Dear Friends,

As Chair of the Border Trade Alliance (BTA), I would like to express my commitment to furthering the BTA’s mission to initiate, monitor and influence public policy and private sector initiatives for the facilitation of international trade and commerce through advocacy, education, issue development, research and analysis, and strategic planning. After 22 years of hard work and dedication, the BTA is widely recognized as a leader in the trade community. Though the BTA continues to grow in size and in prestige, our core values remain the same.

I am dedicated to preserving the core values of the BTA as an organization and representing the interests of those who live and work in the border communities. Through our grassroots advocacy efforts, we will continue working to improve the border region quality of life and trade relations between all three NAFTA nations. By keeping our constituents informed of the changes in the trade environment and providing a forum for various groups to come together and address issues of concern, the BTA helps better prepare our constituents to react to the ever-changing regulatory environment.

I invite you to champion the BTA mission by getting involved in its efforts. Subscribe online to our quarterly newsletter, BTA Briefings, to receive up-to-date information on current issues in the border-trade community . To have your voice be heard, consider joining one of our committees, which are the driving force behind the BTA agenda. Attend any one of our international conferences, regional events or other BTA activities to meet one-on-one with influential private and public sector leaders. I encourage you to also consider becoming a BTA sponsor. We rely on the support of people like you to continue our mission.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (800) 333-5523 or e-mail us. We look forward to hearing from you and working together for the future of trade and border communities in North America.

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the BTA Web site.
