Our Borders Our Futures: Buffalo, New York. September 29 & 30, 2009
General Information:
Please join the Border Trade Alliance (BTA) in Buffalo, New York on September 29 & 30, 2009 for the first U.S.-Canada border event in the BTA’s Community Event Series: “Our Borders, Our Futures.”
The two-day BTA hosted community event will focus on the specific challenges in facilitating secure and efficient cross-border economic activity with specific focus on the present issues impacting the movement of people and goods at land ports of entry in the Great Lakes region.
The Great Lakes border region supports a significant portion of trade with the United States’ largest trading partner in Canada. According to the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, the region conducts $75 billion in surface trade each year.
As part of the BTA event in Buffalo, registered attendees will be able to experience the cross-border movement of travelers and trade first hand with a tour of the Peace Bridge, which links Buffalo, New York and Fort Erie, Ontario and which handled more than 6.5 million personal vehicles, trucks and buses last year.
Event attendees wishing to participate in the tour of the Peace Bridge must bring a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document in order to cross the bridge. See the following link for more information about WHTI-compliant documents
