The “Nuevo Esquema de Empresas Certificadas” Briefings and Outreach Tour
This fall the Border Trade Alliance will be hosting a five-city briefing tour introducing Mexico’s introduction of “The Alliance for Secure Commerce” – also known as NEEC. The informational briefings are intended to familiarize the community with NEEC, Mexico’s import program that is comparable to U.S.’s C-TPAT, which will be implemented later this year.
For the past several years, Mexico has been diligently working to develop its own cross-border import program. Now, Mexico is ready to introduce their Alliance for Secure Commerce program, also known as PACS. The Border Trade Alliance is partnering with Mexican Secretria de Administracion Tributaria and Customs Border Protection representatives in order to introduce this new program to the larger border community.
In its simplest form, NEEC is the Mexican version of the U.S. C-TPAT that is modeled after the World Customs Organization’s framework for secure trade. The program is voluntary and offers participating companies fewer inspections and faster clearances for meeting specified supply requirements at the U.S.-Mexican border.
The informational briefings will be hosted over a period of three weeks in five key cities:
- October 5: El Paso, TX
- October 7: Laredo, TX
- October 21: McAllen, TX
- October 24: Yuma, AZ
- October 26: Otay Mesa, CA
Target Participants, Audience, and Cost
Representatives from Mexican SAT, Customs and Border Protection, importers, exporters, maquiladoras, local government officials, and international business representatives.
Tickets will be priced at $150 for BTA members and $200 for non-BTA members.
