Lance Jungmeyer, president of Fresh Produce Assoc. of the Americas, takes helm of BTA board

WASHINGTON (June 23, 2022) – The Border Trade Alliance is pleased to announce that it has named Lance Jungmeyer as its next board chairman. Jungmeyer, who is the president of the Nogales, Ariz.-based Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, will begin his term on July 1.

Jungmeyer takes over for Sergio Contreras, whose term is concluding.

Contreras is a Board Member of the RGV Partnership, the Rio Grande Valley’s economic development advocacy organization and CEO of Atlas, Hall & Rodriguez LLP.

He will remain a member of the Executive Committee.

“The BTA thanks Sergio for his service as chairman, a whirlwind two years marked by the implementation of the transformational United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the cross-border travel disruptions of the pandemic, a new administration in Washington and so much more,” BTA President Ms. Britton Mullen said. “The BTA welcomes Lance Jungmeyer as chairman, and we look forward to advancing the interests of the cross-border trade community in Washington, Ottawa, and Mexico City to ensure our communities and industries are positioned to thrive.”

Jungmeyer said he is excited to get started.

“I have great respect for the public and private sector members of the Border Trade Alliance, all of whom want to increase the economic competitiveness and improve the quality of life of the border regions,” he said. “I look forward to the BTA continuing to be a leader in ensuring that USMCA is implemented as intended and in seeking solutions to the supply chain challenges we’re all experiencing. I also look forward to increasing our engagement with border state governments to ensure that cross-border trade is not interrupted unnecessarily by state actions.”

The BTA also announced a new slate of officers:

  • Vice Chair: Kathy Neal, Director of Global Trade Compliance, Regal Rexnord Corp.
  • Secretary: Kenia Zamarripa, Executive Director of International Business Affairs, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce
  • Treasurer: Hector Cerna, President and CEO, IBC Bank-Eagle Pass

“The BTA appreciates the willingness of Kathy Neal, Kenia Zamarripa and Hector Cerna to lend their insight and expertise on border affairs to the board of directors,” Mullen said. “I am confident their tenure as officers will be successful and help solidify the BTA’s reputation as the go-to source for policymakers on the issues facing the border.”
