In response to the Department of Homeland Security’s announcement that travel restrictions in place at the U.S.-Canada and U.S.-Mexico borders will remain in place for at least an additional month until August 20, the BTA has issued a letter to reiterate and reinforce its concerns regarding the extension of these restrictions.

The BTA expressed similar concerns in letters from May and April in direct support of border communities that are experiencing severe economic repercussions as a result of the closures. These communities are dependent on cross-border commerce in order to deliver core government services and provide economic stability to their populations.
